EMCEE EXPERIENCE

If you have come to this page, maybe you are wearing a tie or some form of business suit and you make decisions or recommendations regarding corporate events, such as conferences, awards evenings (and days) or entertainment... Well, have I got a deal for you! Here is a brief run down of the experience I have had to date as a professional emcee.

EMCEE EXPERIENCE:

Over the last 6 years I have emcee'd functions such as:
  • 6 years of Advanced Professional Solutions Ltd.'s annual 3-day client conference (see reference)
  • NetGuide Web Awards 2000
  • JA Russell Ltd 50th anniversary dinner, with 800 guests at Eden Park sports ground
  • World Dairy Summit, final night dinner
  • Massey University Property Foundation annual charity auction dinner
  • 2002 Vodafone Top 100 Party in Noumea
  • 2002 Goodman Fielder Conference
  • 2002 Vodafone... Man We're United Day
  • Ground announcing at Eden Park for Super 12 series
.......and many more. I also was a member of New Zealand's champion theatresports team, travelling to the world tournament in Brisbane.
My aims in this area are to make sure the event runs as planned, that the people present feel relaxed and open to what lies ahead, and to enjoy myself; the coffee's a bonus. Genuine enquiries are gratefully received on the Contact Page .......

APS ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2002

23 October 2002

To Whom It May Concern

RAYMOND BRUCE HOPKINS

Advanced Professional Solutions (APS) is a software house that supplies systems,
consulting and training services to the chartered accountancy profession.
For eleven years the company has staged an annual conference to which our
clients are invited. APS Conferences are held in different centres in either
Australia or New Zealand annually - this year's was in Queenstown - with between
150 to 200 delegates in attendance.

While there has always been a conference Master of Ceremonies (MC), in APS's
earlier years (1991 - 1996) we engaged the assistance of some of our more
charismatic clients. In 1997, at the APS Conference in Waitangi,
Bruce Hopkins officiated as our MC for the first time.
Since that time he has acted in that capacity, i.e. at our last six annual
client conferences.

APS Conferences enjoy a reputation for offering -

  • a great networking opportunity for our clients and prospects
  • business sessions and workshops that are informative and educational
  • personal and professional development
  • camaraderie and fun
  • value for money

While many factors contribute to our conferences' success, Bruce has been
a significant part of that consistent outcome. His extensive stage and comedy
experience means he is able to inject a unique flavour to what could otherwise
be an overly serious event. While invariably professional, Bruce has an
ability to maintain a well balanced and positive atmosphere that delegates
enjoy immensely. Delegate feedback forms consistently rate his performance
either very good or excellent, which is praise indeed from an historically
conservative professional group.

I do not hesitate in recommending Bruce as a thoroughly capable MC who will
remain in that role for APS for the foreseeable future, provided his other
commitments permit it.

To Whom it may concern,

Re: Bruce Hopkins

On 21 September 2001 J.A. Russell Ltd. celebrated their 50th anniversary.

We held a large function of 700 people at Eden Park. Bruce Hopkins acted as MC for us
during this event.

We were very happy with Bruce's performance for that event. He was very well spoken
and smartly presented. He responded well to our briefing about the event and came across
as being well researched and understanding.

Bruce got on well with all people he spoke to during the evening - hosts, staff and key
guests. He even mixed and mingled with guests after his duties, staying on longer than
was necessary.

His jokes were tastefully humourous and he responded well to speeches other people
made, making ad-lib references to them in his following words.

Overall, Bruce handled this role very well, remaining relaxed, warm and easy-going
throughout.

Yours faithfully,
J.A. Russell Ltd.
