A BRIEF HISTORY OF
"DES & LES"
Des & Les have existed for 16 years.
(Thus we are probably NZ's longest running comedy duo, so we must
be doing something right.)
The first 8 of those years, Des and Les were actually
known as "The Golden Holdens".
Des and Les are in fact not Des & Les but:
Alan Reid father of one, ex-professional tennis coach,
youth worker, property developer, business entrepreneur and operations
manager at Youthtown in downtown Auckland.
Bruce Hopkins father of three, ex-fisherman, Limbs
Dance Co. dancer, Mercury Theatre actor, currently a freelance actor
(credits include "Gamling" in Lord of the Rings, Savage Honeymoon,
Jubilee, Spin Doctors, Lawless 1, 2 & 3, Mercy Peak etc), voice
artist and professional emcee.
Having been friends from the age of 14, Des & Les were
urged by others to take their brand of interactive humour beyond the
living room of Bruce's apartment and out into the world. Thus,
Des and Les were born.
They now have 16 years experience as each half of the duo that is
them. D & L (as they are known to their mates), have
performed at a huge varity of events and locations in both New Zealand
and Australia.
Examples of Des & Les' work are:
Their "top rating" nationally broadcast, Sunday evening talkback radio
show on Newstalk ZB, from 9pm to midnight, "The Sunday Roast with Des
and Les".
Providing corporate and conference entertainment (30 to 40 minute comedy
set) for companies such as:
Telecom, Vodafone, Scott Panel Ltd, CompleteNZ, Society of Corporate
Treasures, Stihl Ltd, Woolworths, Line 7, CPO Post Productions etc.
MCing corporate / private functions and public events such as:
The World Dairy Summit Dinner 2001, The NetGuide Web Awards 2000,
the DINZ Design Awards 2001, Northland Sports Awards, Prudential
Assurance Conference and many others.
Product launches for Holden and various travel industry companies.
Audience warm up for a number of studio based television productions:
Blind Date, Animal Antics for 3 years.
And ground announcing at Eden Park sports stadium for the inaugural
Super 12 rugby series.
Various charity events.
The list goes on and on and on and on and on and......

To whom it may concern
I would like to highly recommend Des and Les for your next corporate
function/conference/team building experience.
From our first point of contact with them through to their appearance
I found them both professional and genuinely interested in tailoring their
act around our company's specific industry and requirements.
Prior to the day of our conference they walked around the office and
got a feel for how we operate and what we do. This certainly came
across in their act.
Trying to find entertainment that suits all is extremely difficult,
however Des and Les made this a breeze.
When the team were asked afterwards what they enjoyed about our conference
at Huka Village there was an unanaimous Des and Les. There
are still emails and greetings going around now that start with their
cry "Gidday, Gidday, Gidday".
We are at present looking at how we can incorporate Des and Les's act
into our next conference.
Kind regards,
Paula Murray
